Since October 7th antisemitism has been present across the college campuses of America. Shortly after the attacks, antisemitism mainly took place on campuses through protests and gathering, then encampments began as well. Although there has been a decline in encampments, that certainly does not mean antisemitism hasn’t taken another form. “Middle-East Studies” classes have sometimes become hotbeds for incorrect historical framing. In some classes inaccurate and hateful speech has occurred causing Jews to dread going to class, due to the feeling of their history being disputed which some see as anti semitic. Also, encampments for some Jews caused a large sense of fear while commuting to class; while some students were made uncomfortable by the content taught in class. American Society today at this moment is trying to find the delicate balance between free speech, while also not allowing hate to be present. Still, changes need to be made on campus whether that be disciplinary action against or changes in the curriculum itself to make school more safe for Jews.
