The 2025 NYSPHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving Championships at Ithaca College’s Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium showcased elite performances from some of New York’s top athletes.
Two swimmers stood out above the rest. Noah Cakir and Sean Green, the top two recruits in New York for the class of 2025, dominated their respective events.
Noah Cakir of Saint Anthony’s captured the 200-yard individual medley in 1:46.51 and secured victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a swift 53.35 seconds.
Sean Green of Archbishop Molloy left no doubt about his talent, winning both the 200-yard freestyle in 1:35.48 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:17.44. His dominant performance reinforced his status as the No. 3 recruit nationally for the class of 2025.
Isak Brkanovic of Guilderland/Voorheesville made history, claiming the 50-yard freestyle title in 20.52 seconds—the first state championship in his school’s history. He also tied for second in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking 45.38 seconds, further establishing himself as one of the state’s premier sprinters.
Saint Anthony’s once again proved its relay dominance, winning the 200-yard medley relay in 1:31.03 and the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:04.64. Their depth and consistency propelled them to the top of the team standings, clinching the overall championship with 191 points.
Several underclassmen also made their mark. Anderson Baird, a sophomore from Saratoga Springs, made his third consecutive state championship appearance and placed fourth overall in the 200-yard individual medley, outperforming several top senior recruits. He is a name to watch over the next two years. Similarly, Ryan Baldwin, a sophomore from Oceanside, delivered standout performances with podium finishes in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. With these rising stars, New York’s high school swimming scene promises to remain highly competitive for years to come.
